Heat pump and solar
N21
Winchmore Hill
Air source heat pump with roof-mounted solar
The panels sit across the rear pitch and the heat pump at the side of the house, which is the pairing that lets the pump run on its own generation through the middle of the day.

Wood Green
Samsung monobloc air source heat pump
Stood on a levelled base built up out of the border rather than on soil, so the feet stay out of standing water and the unit does not settle out of level over a winter.

Heat pump
EN3
Enfield
Samsung monobloc air source heat pump
Set tight against the flank wall on anti-vibration feet, where it takes up none of the usable garden and the pipe run to the cylinder stays short.

Enfield
Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7 kW air source heat pump
Stood on rubber anti-vibration blocks on the existing patio slabs rather than on a new base, against the rear fence and beside the drainage the house already had.

Heat pump, solar and battery
N15
Tottenham
Air source heat pump with solar and battery storage
The whole electrical side on one wall: inverter, battery modules and every isolator in reach, with the conduit dressed in straight runs so a fault years from now can be traced without stripping the wall.

Camden
Samsung monobloc air source heat pump
Levelled on packers on an existing tiled patio rather than bolted through it, so the tiling stays intact and the unit still sits dead flat.

North Finchley
Samsung air source heat pump with hydrobox
Heat pump and hydrobox both outside in the side passage, which keeps the whole system out of the house and leaves the cupboard the old boiler used.

Barnet
Cascade pair of air source heat pumps
Two machines in cascade on a flat roof, flow and return in insulated copper with isolating valves on each leg, so one can be shut down and worked on while the other keeps the building warm.

Leytonstone
Samsung monobloc air source heat pump
On its own slab set clear of the fence line, with the condensate taken away below ground level instead of being left to run across the paving and freeze.

Winchmore Hill
Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump
An Ecodan stood off the boundary fence far enough that the fan discharge is not bouncing straight back off it, which is what makes a badly sited unit sound louder than it is.

Richmond
Air source heat pump
Flow and return brought up the wall as one insulated pair in a single clipped run, which is the difference between pipework that looks designed and pipework that looks added.

Vaillant twin-fan air source heat pump
A larger twin-fan machine raised onto a brick plinth, which lifts the coil clear of leaf litter and puts the fans above the level a low fence would reflect.

Bosch air source heat pump
Installed on a flat roof on a raised frame, so the roof covering carries no point load and rainwater still runs freely underneath.

Samsung air source heat pump
Fitted down the side passage on a proper base, with the isolator mounted at the house wall where it can be reached without walking past the unit.

Samsung air source heat pump
Set into a planted border on a hard base, far enough off the wall for the service access the manufacturer asks for and close enough that the pipe run stays short.

Walton-on-Thames
Samsung air source heat pump
Sited round the corner from the conservatory glazing rather than beside it, because a fan discharging at glass is the most common cause of a noise complaint about a unit that is running perfectly.

Samsung heat pump with Tesla Powerwall
Heat pump and battery on the same elevation, so the pump can be run off stored generation through the evening peak instead of off the most expensive electricity of the day.

Cockfosters
Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7 kW air source heat pump

Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7 kW air source heat pump
There was no room for it in the garden, so it went on the flat roof, stood on rubber blocks over a protective mat so the roof covering carries no point load.

Finsbury Park
Vaillant air source heat pump with solar panels and a battery
The panels on the roof run the heat pump through the day and the battery carries it into the evening, so the house buys far less from the grid. The unit sits on raised feet against the rear wall.

What will a heat pump cost for your home?
Six quick questions, then an indicative price with the £7,500 grant shown as its own line. Built from our own quotations.
The itemised rates: every line, at our rates
What each part of a heat pump installation costs, off our own quotation template.
An air source heat pump with a hot water cylinder is £12,500 to £15,000 for a small house and £15,000 to £19,000 for a four bedroom one, before the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. Take £7,500 off for the grant, which we apply for and redeem as part of the job.
Those are our own figures. The 10 house quotations we issued between July and September 2026 landed at £12,490, £12,975, £14,320, £15,050, £15,759, £15,948, £15,985, £17,500, £17,831 and £20,275. The top one included fourteen radiator upgrades and moving the boiler. VAT is zero.
| Item | Our rate | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Heat pump, 8 kW monobloc | £2,500 to £2,865 | The machine itself, R290 refrigerant |
| Heat pump, 16 kW | £4,450 to £4,700 | For a large or poorly insulated house |
| Hot water cylinder, 250 litre | £1,100 to £1,650 | Replaces the boiler's hot water job |
| Buffer vessel with pump | £485 to £1,200 | Stops the pump short cycling |
| Controls and zoning | £185 to £845 | Wi-Fi controller, or a two zone system |
| Installation materials | £1,370 to £2,115 | Pipe, cable, insulation, filter, valves |
| The service block | £7,050 | Installation, cylinder, grant application, building control, DNO, MCS certification, warranty registration and grant redemption |
| Radiator upgrade | £415 to £490 each | K2 radiator and the labour to fit it |
| Concrete base | £395 to £899 | Where there is nothing solid to stand it on |
| Dedicated fuse board | £495 to £500 | Nearly always needed |
| Standing discount | −£825 | Comes off nearly every quotation we issue |
The service block is the part most installers do not itemise. It covers the £7,500 grant application and redemption, the building control certificate, the DNO commissioning and the MCS certification, all of which have to happen for the grant to be paid.
What the price includes. Nothing added later.
Everything below is inside the figure.
- The grant, done for youWe apply for the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme voucher, you consent to it by email, and we redeem it after the installation. It comes off the price rather than being something you claim back.
- MCS certificationRegistration NIC-601634. Without an MCS certified installation there is no grant, and the certificate is issued in Electro Heating Limited's name.
- The warranty7 years on the heat pump, 25 years on the cylinder's stainless steel, plus an insurance backed warranty registered on your behalf.
Questions people actually ask
Why is a heat pump more than a boiler?
Because it is not one item. The machine is £2,500 to £4,700; the rest is a hot water cylinder, a buffer, controls, a dedicated electrical supply, the pipework to carry a lower flow temperature, and roughly £7,050 of installation, certification and grant work that a boiler swap does not involve.
After the £7,500 grant the gap narrows a long way, and the running cost is the other half of the answer.
Do I definitely get the £7,500?
The property has to qualify: a valid EPC without outstanding loft or cavity wall insulation recommendations, and the system being replaced has to be eligible. We check before we quote and we tell you either way.
We will not put a grant in a quotation until the voucher is confirmed, because a price that depends on money you might not get is not a price.
Will my radiators need changing?
Some of them usually do, because a heat pump runs a lower flow temperature and a radiator sized for 70 degrees will not put out the same heat at 45. We price it at £415 to £490 per radiator including the labour.
The room by room heat loss survey is what decides which ones, and it happens before the quotation, not after.
Can I have cooling from it too?
Not from an air-to-water heat pump feeding radiators, no. If cooling matters to you, an air-to-air heat pump is the machine that does both, and that is what most people call air conditioning.
Air-to-air heat pumps are the other half of what we install, and they carry a different grant.
A heat pump runs on electricity. Make your own.
Fitted with the heat pump, on the same survey and the same certification.
The survey is free and the written price is fixed
We measure the property, tell you what it needs and put a price in writing that does not move.
